Paula Chambers Raney is a patient advocate, colorectal cancer survivor, and health equity advocate dedicated to advancing equitable access to cancer prevention, screening, genetic testing, clinical trials, treatment, and survivorship care. She serves as a Patient Advocacy Specialist with The Cancer Network and as Hope Coordinator for Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC), where she collaborates with patients, clinicians, researchers, and community organizations to advance patient-centered care and elevate the voices of historically underserved communities.
Paula is the founder of Celebration of Queer Joy, an annual event held during the ASCO Annual Meeting that celebrates LGBTQIA+ voices in cancer survivorship, advocacy, and research. She also served as Chair of the ASCO LGBTQIA+ Community Practice Group from 2023–2025. As a Black queer colorectal cancer survivor and national patient advocate, Paula focuses on advancing health equity, expanding access to screening, genetic testing, and clinical trials, strengthening survivorship, and promoting policies that improve cancer outcomes for marginalized communities.
